Release Dates
-------------

* v20.11 dates
   * Proposal/V1 deadline passed, it was on Friday, 11 September 2020
   * -rc1:           Friday, 9 October 2020
   * -rc2:           Friday, 23 October 2020
   * Release:        Friday, 13 November 2020

   * Nvidia Mellanox, Marvell, Broadcom & Arm already sent roadmap, all
     contributors please send roadmap for the release.


Highlights
----------

* Need support for crypto tree. There are new PMDs for this release and
   we need additional support on reviews.

* It would be good to have a backup maintainer for crypto tree to
   support Akhil. Intel, NXP, Marvell has drivers in that domain.

* DPDK Userspace summit 2020 is next week on September 22 & 23.

* The net PMDs not complying new close operation in a reasonable time
   frame can be marked as unmaintained.

* There is some execution problems in the security issues, there are
   some reported security issues waiting more than they should. The
   bottleneck is mainly resourcing in security team (Ferruh, Thomas,
   Stephen), need additional support.


Subtrees

* main
   * Reminder that this is good time to review your APIs
     * Like if experimental APIs should mature
   * Some patches merged, reviews are going on
   * Meson migration issues reported
     * Will review Bruce's fix for it
   * Memory barrier update patch conflicts with new updates in next-net
   * Will pull next-net tree
   * ethdev close operation patch sent
     * There are some drivers not switched to new close support
       * Those drivers may be marked as unmaintained
   * Thomas will send removal of the flow director patch
     * There are still some occurrence in drivers, it won't be
       straightforward to remove them
   * Thomas will send mbuf patch to move some fields as dynamic field
     * As a result mempool pointer will be moved to first cacheline
       * There changes may require additional validation, specially for
         the vector PMDs

* next-net
   * ~250 patches
   * Some patches merged and has pulled from some subtrees
   * Need help on ethdev patch reviews
     * Specially on rte_flow ones
   * Enough patch accumulated on next-net for an early merge

* next-crypto
   * No update yet

* next-eventdev
   * Major feature is new DLB driver
     * It looks OK as of now

* next-virtio
   * ~40 patches in backlog
   * Will start more actively reviewing tomorrow
   * Some of the patches almost reviewed already
   * Major sets in the backlog
     * vhost add vectorized data path
     * add async data path in vhost sample
     * virtio-user: introduce vhost-vdpa backend
       * May be postponed to next release

* next-net-intel
   * Qi is processing his backlog
     * Most of the base file updates merged at this point
     * More patches in his backlog

* next-net-mlx
   * Some patches merged, expecting more to come

* next-net-mrvl
   * There are a few patches, will merge in next weeks

* next-net-brcm
   * Some patches merged, expecting more to come


LTS
---

* 18.11.10-r1 is out, please test

The DPDK Release Status Meeting is intended for DPDK Committers to 
discuss the
status of the master tree and sub-trees, and for project managers to track
progress or milestone dates.

The meeting occurs on every Thursdays at 8:30 UTC. on
