Minutes

=====================================================================
General Announcements

* Slack (https://dpdkproject.slack.com/) is working well to discuss topics
and raise questions about testing. Recommend everyone joins and setups
notifications (or hangs out).

=====================================================================
CI Status

-------------------------------------------------
UNH-IOL Community Lab

* Container image refresh caught an issue with upgrading meson beyond
0.59. Images rolled back to September versions. Planning to add a manual
release gate, so containers can rebuild/test in the “background” and a
manual review checks and pushes to production testing.
* Mellanox 25G and 40G cards are not testing, while stability is being
looked into by Mellanox (https://bugs.dpdk.org/show_bug.cgi?id=844).
* FIPS testing development is still in process. We have the integration
with NIST working (pulling test vectors), working to get the DPDK FIPS
sample application running (may be an issue in the vector file format).
* Spell checker updates are in process (under internal review). This will
be submitted as a patch to dpdk/devtools where it will support running in
two modes (check patch / “my” changes only OR check all documentation).
This will also move the exceptions and dictionary into the tools as well.
* Periodic Testing Dashboard updates are finally ready to roll out. Final
code review caught a racing condition / edge case that needed to be fixed
(now completed). Planning to roll out early next week in parallel (cause
of) notification test to the emails.
* Need to confirm how the container running unit tests are providing CPU
resources (i.e. pinned CPU) that may be required for some unit tests.

-------------------------------------------------
Intel Lab

* Working on optimizing the reporting, to avoid needing to wait for the
full testing processes (all test types complete) before sending the report
to patchwork. Reports should go immediately per test type.
* Working to get testing running parallel (better multithreaded testing).
* Is there a process to allow developers to request a retest or rerun?
Currently need to email a requests to the Intel team. There has been some
discussion about automating retesting through patchwork,
http://inbox.dpdk.org/ci/f7teefefg4v.fsf@dhcp-25.97.bos.redhat.com/ That
might be a way to approach this request.

-------------------------------------------------
Github Actions / OBS

* No major updates on Github actions
* Aaron has pulled some of the original scripts for the OBS libraries, but
hasn’t finished the required updates yet.

=====================================================================
Test Development

* Techboard discussed / approved the proposed plan to require DTS test
development in parallel with new features. This will require a number of
changes and improvements to the current DTS source code and processes.
Work items are being tracked here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s_Y3Ph1sVptYs6YjOxkUI8rVzrPFGpTZzd75gkpgIXY/edit#gid=1128536548
   * Next DTS WG meeting: Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 9am Eastern USA -
