[dpdk-dev] Unable to compile DPDK 2.1

Hello all,

I was trying to help someone compile DPDK2.1 on Ubuntu 14.04, we were
following
the instructions on http://www.dpdk.org/doc/quick-start

We installed libpcap using "sudo apt-get install libpcap-dev"

When starting the 'make' the following error occured:

/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-linux-gnu/4.8/../../../libpcap.so
 when searching for -lpcap /usr/bin/ld:
skipping incompatible //usr/lib/libpcap.so when searching for -lpcap
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpcap

Anyone can please help with this?
