You can use rdma over Ethernet, AKA ROCE
Mellanox PMDs  don't  need vfio 
I am not sure what you are trying to achieve, you want  to run DPDK on Infiniband?

=( Bad news, i need to use rdma to transfer storage traffic and not want to change ports to ethernet.
Does dpdk can work with vfio ?
