[PATCH 0/2] fix build disabling common/mlx5

Andrew reported a build failure when disabling mlx5 common driver.
It is a blocker for -rc2 release.

While fixing the use of a variable across mlx5 drivers in first patch,
the consistency of its use is improved in a second patch.
