## Patch 1/6: ethdev: fix flow conversion with null buffer

### ERRORS

**Error**: Pointer arithmetic on NULL pointer removed, but indexed access still risks out-of-bounds write when `num` is non-zero and `size` is too small.

In `rte_flow_conv_pattern()` after the first loop:
```c
for (i = 0, off = 0; !num || i != num; ++i, ++src) {
    if (size >= off + sizeof(*dst))
        dst[i] = (struct rte_flow_item){
            .type = src->type,
        };
```
This writes `dst[i]` if `size >= off + sizeof(*dst)`, but `dst[i]` requires `size >= (i + 1) * sizeof(*dst)`. When `off` grows beyond `i * sizeof(*dst)` due to alignment padding or deep-copied spec/mask data, the guard `size >= off + sizeof(*dst)` becomes weaker than the actual requirement, allowing writes past the caller's buffer.

The same pattern appears in the second loop where spec/mask pointers are assigned:
```c
if (size && size >= off + ret)
    dst[i].spec = (void *)(data + off);
```
Here `off` includes alignment padding and all previously copied data. This guard protects the *data pointer target*, not the `dst[i]` write itself. If the array entry `dst[i]` is beyond `size`, writing `dst[i].spec` corrupts memory.

**Suggested fix**: Guard every `dst[i]` write with `size >= (i + 1) * sizeof(*dst)`:
```c
if (size >= (i + 1) * sizeof(*dst))
    dst[i] = (struct rte_flow_item){ .type = src->type };
...
if (size >= (i + 1) * sizeof(*dst) && size >= off + ret)
    dst[i].spec = (void *)(data + off);
```

The same issue exists in `rte_flow_conv_actions()`.

## Patch 4/6: ethdev: fix indirect action conversion with short buffer

### ERRORS

**Error**: Incomplete fix for the buffer overrun pattern introduced in patch 1/6.

The patch adds:
```c
if (size >= (i + 1) * sizeof(*dst))
    dst[i].conf = src->conf;
```
This correctly guards the indirect/shared action handle write. However, the immediately following branch has the same issue that patch 1/6 left unfixed:
```c
} else if (src->conf) {
    off = RTE_ALIGN_CEIL(off, sizeof(double));
    ret = rte_flow_conv_action_conf(...);
    if (size && size >= off + ret)
        dst[i].conf = (void *)(data + off);  // BUG: dst[i] may be out of bounds
```
The guard `size >= off + ret` protects the data region, not the action entry. When `i * sizeof(*dst)` exceeds `size`, writing `dst[i].conf` corrupts memory.

**Suggested fix**: Add the entry guard to the else-if branch:
```c
if (size >= (i + 1) * sizeof(*dst) && size >= off + ret)
    dst[i].conf = (void *)(data + off);
```

Patch 1/6 should also apply this fix to the pattern conversion's spec/mask assignments.

## Patch 5/6: test/ethdev: add flow conversion tests

### WARNINGS

**Warning**: `LAST_ITEM_TYPE` and `LAST_ACTION_TYPE` are hardcoded constants that must be manually updated when new types are added, as noted in the patch comment. This creates maintenance burden and the test will silently under-test the API if a new type is added without updating these constants.

**Suggested improvement**: Consider defining a `RTE_FLOW_ITEM_TYPE_MAX` sentinel in `rte_flow.h` (similar to how some enums provide `_MAX` or `_COUNT` values), or generate the test bounds from the descriptor table size. Alternatively, add a CI check that compares the test constants against known-latest types.

**Warning**: Test does not cover the buffer overrun scenarios that patches 1 and 4 address. The `test_flow_conv_actions_truncated()` function only checks that writes do not occur *past* the truncated size, but it does not verify that writing `dst[i]` is properly guarded when `i * sizeof(*dst)` exceeds `size`. Without this, regressions in the guards added by patches 1 and 4 would not be caught.

**Suggested addition**: Add a test case that:
- Constructs a pattern or action list with N entries
- Calls conversion with `size = (N - 1) * sizeof(entry)` (enough for array, not enough for last entry)
- Verifies that the last entry in `dst` is not written (e.g., by pre-filling with a sentinel value)

## Patch 6/6: ethdev: add flow item structure size query

### WARNINGS

**Warning**: The new operation returns `sizeof(size_t)` as its success value, not the item structure size. This is consistent with other `_PTR` operations, but is potentially confusing for callers who might expect the size itself as the return value.

The documentation is clear ("The return value is sizeof(size_t), not the item structure size"), but the API design creates a footgun: a caller who forgets to check the destination and uses the return value directly will get `8` (on 64-bit) instead of the actual structure size.

**Suggested improvement** (for future consideration, not a blocker for this patch): Consider an alternative signature where the operation writes to the destination and returns the item structure size directly (0 for no-spec types, negative for errors). This would match the pattern of size-query operations elsewhere in DPDK. However, this diverges from the existing `_PTR` operations, so consistency may outweigh usability here.

**Warning**: The defensive NULL name checks added to `rte_flow_conv_name()` and `rte_flow_conv_item_default_mask()` are good hardening, but their error messages are generic ("unknown object type"). When a descriptor entry exists but has a NULL name (which should never happen after patches 2 and 3), the message does not distinguish this from a truly out-of-range type. Consider adding a distinct error message for this case, or an assertion, since it indicates a descriptor table bug rather than a caller error.

## FINAL CHECK

### Pass 1: Correctness bugs
- Patch 1/6: Identified buffer overrun risk in array entry writes (Error)
- Patch 4/6: Identified incomplete fix leaving same issue in else-if branch (Error)

### Pass 2: Style/process false positives
No style or process items were flagged, so this pass has nothing to remove.

### Pass 3: Evidence verification
All findings quote specific lines from the patches and explain the defect those lines cause. The buffer overrun issue in patches 1 and 4 is demonstrated by tracing when `off` exceeds `i * sizeof(*dst)` while `size >= off + sizeof(*dst)` is still true, causing `dst[i]` writes beyond the caller's buffer.
