## PATCH 5/6: test/ethdev: add flow conversion tests
### Errors
**Fragility and maintenance burden from hardcoded enum max values:**
Line 18-19 in `app/test/test_ethdev_flow_conv.c`:
```c
#define LAST_ITEM_TYPE ((int)RTE_FLOW_ITEM_TYPE_COMPARE)
#define LAST_ACTION_TYPE ((int)RTE_FLOW_ACTION_TYPE_JUMP_TO_TABLE_INDEX)
```
The test hardcodes the last known item and action types and iterates up to them to verify every type has a descriptor entry. As noted in the commit message, this is fragile: every time a new item or action is added to the API, these defines must be manually updated or the test silently becomes incomplete.
While the test does document this ("Note that this test is fragile..."), relying on manual updates in a test means the check can go stale and stop catching gaps in the descriptor tables--the very bug class it is meant to prevent.
**Suggested approach:**
- Add a `_MAX` or `_LAST` sentinel value to `enum rte_flow_item_type` and `enum rte_flow_action_type` in `rte_flow.h`, following the pattern used elsewhere in DPDK (e.g., `RTE_ETH_EVENT_MAX`).
- Use that sentinel in the test loop bounds instead of a manually maintained define.
This makes the test automatically cover new types without requiring updates in two places, and ensures the descriptor table completeness check remains effective as the API evolves.
**Alternative (if adding enum sentinels is rejected):**
Document the need to update these defines in the flow item/action type enum comments in `rte_flow.h`, or add a static assert in `rte_flow.c` that fires when a type is added without a descriptor, so at least one of the two is guaranteed to catch the omission at build time.

## PATCH 6/6: ethdev: add flow item structure size query
### Errors
None.
### Warnings
**Inconsistent naming between operation and implementation:**
The new operation is named `RTE_FLOW_CONV_OP_ITEM_SIZE` (line 2445 in `lib/ethdev/rte_flow.h`), and its implementation function is `rte_flow_conv_item_size()` (line 1216 in `lib/ethdev/rte_flow.c`).
However, the operation documentation says "Retrieve the fixed size of an item **specification structure**" and the error message uses "size of" without "spec" or "specification", while the analogous mask operation (`RTE_FLOW_CONV_OP_ITEM_DEFAULT_MASK_PTR`) is clearly about the item's mask, not the item descriptor itself.
The size being retrieved is the `size` field from the descriptor table, which is the size of the `struct rte_flow_item_*` spec structure (e.g., `sizeof(struct rte_flow_item_eth)`), not the size of `struct rte_flow_item` itself. The name `ITEM_SIZE` is slightly ambiguous--it could be misread as the size of the `rte_flow_item` descriptor entry rather than the size of the type-specific specification structure.
**Suggested fix:**
Consider renaming to `RTE_FLOW_CONV_OP_ITEM_SPEC_SIZE` to match the existing `ITEM_SPEC` conversion operation naming (line 4372 in `rte_flow.h`) and make it unambiguous that this is the spec structure size, not the item descriptor size. Update the function name and documentation accordingly.
If the current name is intentional, explicitly clarify in the doc comment that this returns the size of the **specification structure** (e.g., `struct rte_flow_item_eth`), not the size of `struct rte_flow_item`, to avoid confusion.

## Summary
This series fixes real correctness bugs in the flow API conversion code:
- **Patch 1** fixes undefined behavior (pointer arithmetic on NULL) in size queries
- **Patch 4** fixes a buffer overflow when converting indirect actions with a short destination buffer
- **Patches 2 and 3** fix missing descriptor table entries that caused certain item and action types to be rejected as unknown
The fixes are well-targeted and the test coverage in patch 5 is valuable.
The two findings above are about test maintainability (patch 5) and API naming clarity (patch 6), not correctness of the fixes themselves.
